Young Adventurers Club
Every Saturday: 10am, 12:30pm & 3pm
Outdoor fun and adventure for children. Allow our experienced Forest School team to take care of your young saplings. They’ll be exploring the woods, playing games and offered a range of nature-connection activities such as nature crafts, making tree swings, mud pies, or cooking over an open fire. Children are free to choose, and there’s always something for everyone. Suitable for ages 3-11 (children under 5 need to be accompanied by a parent).
All parents must complete the parent permission form at least 30 mins before a session, here’s a link so you can be organised, drop off and get your class/cocktail on time: REGISTRATION FORM
Ages 2-7 (children 5 and under must come accompanied by a parent).
With a focus on our youngest members of our Birch community (ages 2-7), we will share a story or a song to springboard into play. Play will be focused on sensory experiences (taste, touch, smell, sound, sight) and nature connection. Past examples include making potions with herbs picked directly from our herb garden, using clay from the ground and foraged objects to build faces on trees or ‘walking stories’, adventure experiences as we walk through the woods together. Free choice is encouraged and there are also hammocks to chill, a stocked mud kitchen, balance beams, tree swings and den building. We finish with a fire, a snack and a song.
Ages 4-11 (children 5 and under must come accompanied by a parent).
This session is about nature crafts. Think tie dying with blackberries, making a bow and arrow using knots you’ve learned or the Japanese art of Hapazome – bashing leaves and flowers into fabric to print using the natural dyes. Choices are encouraged and there are also hammocks to chill, a stocked mud kitchen, balance beams, tree swings and den building. We finish with a fire, a snack, a story or a song.
Mixed ages, recommended 5-11
The afternoon session is aimed at the tribe of Young Explorers without parents. We’ll play a game to get to know each other, then set to work solving problems or completing a STEM challenge in teams. Past examples include basic first aid – solving an ‘emergency’, building vehicles to transport made characters in a race, a navigation challenge, or safely siting, lighting and cooking snack on your own fire. Choices are encouraged and there are also hammocks to chill, a stocked mud kitchen, balance beams, tree swings and den building. We finish with a fire, a snack, a story or a song.
