Japanese indigo dye workshop with Rubino Wilson Studio
2 hours long
Shibori, しぼり/絞り, from the verb root shiboru – “to wring, squeeze or press”, is a Japanese manual tie-dyeing technique, which produces a number of different patterns on fabric. During this workshop you will be shown how to create patterns using different techniques, practicing on calico before designing and making your own organic cotton tote bag to take home. We will use the traditional natural indigo dye.
Gloves and aprons will be provided, wearing your best clothes is not advised.
Need to know:
1) Daniela Rubino and Lauren Wilson, founders of Rubino Wilson Studio, are experienced tutors who will guide you through the process. No previous experience required.
2) You will dye your own organic cotton tote bag to take home and enjoy forever.
