Young Adventurers Club
Saturday 29th January: 10am
Outdoor fun and adventure for children. Allow our experienced Forest School team to take care of your young saplings. A combination of a nature walk, hands-on discovery activities (such as bug hunting and foraging), spotting challenges, nature crafting and games create the perfect balance of learning, being active and nature connection. Whenever we can, we cook over an open fire, this is a really memorable experience for most, which draws us in to watch the flickering flames of our campfire. Children are encouraged to choose during play, and there’s always something for everyone.
All parents must complete the parent permission form at least 30 mins before a session, here’s a link so you can be organised, drop off and get your class/cocktail on time: REGISTRATION FORM
Ages 2-7 (children 5 and under must come accompanied by a parent).
A family adventure! Tailored for our youngest members of Birch community (ages 2-7), we will share a story or a song to springboard into play. Play will be focused on sensory experiences (taste, touch, smell, sound, sight) and nature connection. First, we gather with a fire, and a snack. We will feed the birds, play hide and seek and move (run, bounce, climb, swing!) our bodies lots to keep warm.
Every week’s theme is different, upcoming examples include Winter Solstice, Rabbits, Birds, Tree Spirits and Wild Medicine Potion Making. Free choice is encouraged during ‘free play’ and includes hammocks to chill, nature craft, a stocked mud kitchen, balance beams, tree swings and den building. We usually finish with a visit to the Birch brood of hens where we feed them the leftover organic popped corn and sing a song with gratitude for nature.
Come dressed for the cold temperatures, hats, gloves, thick socks and good jackets are a must for happy wild ones. We have outdoor shelters and an indoor room which we use occasionally for part of the session if the weather is very windy, really wet or considerably cold. Indoors we offer hands on environmental education activities and nature craft.
